Learning how to learn is an important skill to acquire. Throughout your life you will be told to "Learn this, learn that, study this, remember that." You must learn the little skills, methods, processes, and strategies of how to learn. You must assume the responsibility for your own learning.

Do you do best auditorily, visually, or hands-on? A combination? Special time of day? In groups, in classes? Other ways? We have stages of mental development. There are slow and fast learners. Each of us is somewhat different, so you must determine your learning style and improve it.

Master the art of learning how to learn and you will:
Spare yourself countless hours of ineffective study
Raise your school and employment application test grades
Improve your self-educational ability; learn how to improve attributes
Be rewarded with a much more successful life

Learn how to study. Set priorities to allow sufficient study time. Motivate yourself with a positive attitude and control stress and self- doubt. Start a study group it is often effective. Build your basic knowledge and intuitive base. It will be more difficult to learn how to learn if you don't have a solid base of reading, writing, vocabulary, mathematics, listening, speaking, and measuring skills (and experiences).

Learn thinking skills and practice them.

Learn to abstract concepts, basic principles, or basic data. You will be asked to read books and chapters that are filled with more information than you can possibly remember. Read; analyze; evaluate; pick out just the theories, basic principles, or important data. List, review, and commit to working memory for easy retrieval. Learn how to take tests.

Learn to transfer knowledge. If you solve a problem, be alert to recognize how you can apply the same methods in another area. Learning SM-14, structure, concepts, and basic principles makes the transfer of knowledge easier.
